Physical Education

The overall aim of Physical Education at Finham Park 2 is to ensure that all students enjoy PE physically, mentally and socially. Through positive experiences in PE, students will be inspired to lead healthy and active lifestyles during their time at Finham Park 2 and beyond.

This will be achieved by offering students:

  1. The opportunity to participate in a range of traditional and alternative sports during their core PE lessons.
  2. The opportunity to develop the knowledge and understanding needed to lead a healthy and active lifestyle through core PE and BTEC Sport lessons.
  3. Inclusive and progressive lessons designed to meet the needs of every student.
  4. The opportunity to attend a range of after-school clubs and compete in local and national competitions.
  5. The opportunity to study GCSE PE through high-quality lessons that explore how the body, mind and personal choices can affect all aspects of life.
  6. The opportunity to complete additional high-quality qualifications, such as Sports Leadership qualifications and BTEC Sport.
  7. The opportunity to take part in international sports tours, including skiing and netball tours.
  8. Support in joining a range of local sports teams and clubs.

At Finham Park 2, we pride ourselves on working as a team. Students and staff are expected to try their best to be their best, remain focused and listen to others with respect.

To help us achieve these aims, we expect all students to bring their full PE kit, including a top, shorts or skort, socks and non-marking sports trainers, to every lesson. This is monitored through regular kit inspections.

Our PE curriculum gives all students opportunities to participate in a wide range of traditional sports and alternative activities. We believe that every student deserves access to the same valuable experiences, helping them to make positive choices about physical activity as adults.
